In his younger years, Wakahata was a popular actor. Now, in his 40s, he has switched to playing supporting roles. It’s well-known that Wakahata is gay. One of his friends, the producer Shinosaki, introduced him to a new writer named Kikunosuke. Wakahata felt that Kikunosuke had talent for writing stories.
